In 1954, the Mozart Distillery began producing high-quality spirits in Salzburg, Austria. Then, in 1979, they started crafting chocolate-inspired liqueurs. Think “bonbon-in-a bottle.” These unique Mozart liqueurs use all-natural ingredients to create their renowned liqueurs. The base spirit is distilled from sugar beets and combined with a cocoa blend from West Africa. It also added Madagascar and bourbon vanillas to create the landmark flavor profile of its flagship dram.

With seven individual and unique products, additional ingredients include cream blended with cocoa butter from The Netherlands, caramel, Belgian dark chocolate, coconut, and pumpkin. Meant to be shared with friends, the spirit of Mozart is light and playful, just like Wolfgang Amadeus himself.

The newest offering? Mozart Coconut Chocolate! Celebrate the tropics with the lively flavor of fresh coconut. The liqueur is both lactose and gluten-free. The texture is creamy with a mild and nutty flavor that will transport you to the tropics with every sip. The creamy, mousse-like consistency is rich and flavorful but not cloyingly sweet. Toasted coconut notes linger on the finish. At 15% ABV, It’s a very pleasant tipple. Knowing that ethanol is a flavor enhancer, I added Mozart Coconut to my trusty cocktail shaker with an equal pour of Ketel One Vodka. Shaking with ice and straining into a coup glass yielded a satisfying post-dinner drink. A sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa makes this the perfect after-dinner dessert drink.

As summer yields to fall, isn’t it only fitting that Mozart Liqueurs shouldn’t follow suit? Introducing Mozart Pumpkin Spice Chocolate.

I know what you’re thinking. What would compel a company to create another pumpkin-flavored product in a category already overwhelmed by the seasonal “PSL” phenomenon? Well, given the brand’s history and desire to honor the creativity of its namesake, you might expect it to push boundaries. This liqueur does that and more, for sure.

The rich, vibrant orange color hints at a classic melange of baking spices. The dram’s creamy texture, coupled with its pumpkin spice and chocolate sensation, is sure to entice those who enjoy autumn, sweaters, and backyard bonfires. Rich, creamy, and sweet, its authentic pumpkin flavor carves through, accompanied by cinnamon, clove, and a hint of vanilla. Milk chocolate notes linger long past the finish.

I decided to add some sweet vermouth to a hearty pour of Mozart Pumpkin over ice. I added a few dashes of Mole (the food, not the critter) bitters and topped it off with a sprinkle of Ancho Chili powder with a few toasted pepitas. Served on the rocks or strained straight up, this fall-forward concoction will surely please those searching for a seasonal sipper that dares to be different.

While steeped in history, Mozart Liqueur continues to honor the craftsmanship of its legacy, adding the creativity and forward-thinking of its late, great composer namesake. Explore these two new creations that bear his name and add a taste of his legacy to your next cocktail creations.
