In its first significant action of the 2017 vintage whiskey enforcement bill, Kentucky fired a warning shot that sent a chill across the vintage whiskey collector community. The ABC raid on Justin’s House of Bourbon in Lexington represents the first large-scale test of the new law intended to balance out the legalization of consumer-to-retail sales of “dusties,” a term collectively used by collectors for old and collectible bottles.
Co-owner Justin Thompson declined to comment regarding the raid other than to say: “At this moment, all I will say at the moment is our license is active, and we will be in business. We won’t have any more comment until the investigation process is complete.”
